Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for honoring and mourning United States military personnel who have died while serving in the military of the United States. Remember Memorial Day wasn't established to have cookouts and parties. It is a day to remember and honor all military members who gave their life for this great county of America. My hometown of Fredericksburg, VA is often referred to as the most historic city. Home of several Presidents and major Civil War battles are just two of the reasons for it nicknamed that.
